2) I’m planning a trip to Jiufen and spend a night at the local homestay. Does the bus from Taipei to Jiufen has a luggage compartment where we can put out stuffs in there?

If you go on a weekday, the bus to Jioufen should not be so crowded. Your first stop should be the Minsu and drop of your stuff before moving around.There is space in the center , near the exit door where you can put your bags, no special luggage compartment. MInsu rates for weekday is also cheaper.

1) I think it’s easy if your luggage isn’t too big and heavy.
2)Going to Jiufen take bus at Chung Reun (中崙) bus station in DT. Taipei. It takes about 2 hours.
I think the luggage can put at compartment or other place.

You can visit the Gold ecological park :
When visit Juifen, the old street on the mountains is the main place to go,drinking Chinese tea at tea shops also can see view at same time (pick a tea shop which can see view), also have to eat local specific food.

This homestay has several branch houses around Juifen mountain, so it has different price of different rooms.
Room has: 涵館 , 香草庭院, 和風屋, A館 can choose.
So if you see “平日” on the each webpage, it means Weekday, “假日” means Weekend, you can check each rooms and price.
Of course, there are other house can stay but I didn’t show it.

i suggest you bring another overnight bag to put just the essential items for travel out of Taipei. Most of the Taipei hotels allow tourist to put their luggages while they are out of town. I did that before. I just booked the Taipei City hotel for the first 2 nights and the last night of my 8 days Taiwan stay.
If there’s anyway you can get to KenTing (the southern tip of the island) — I highly recommend it. You can take a train most of the way and then a bus.
