I always wear my suite on the plane, I can usually find a closet to hang up my jacket and am than careful i don’t spill anything on my pants.
When I get to the hotel I might send it to the cleaners just to be pressed again for a bit of a fresher feel.
A suit bag does count as a carry-on. Can you fit your suit bag in your suitcase? Just a thought.
If you can’t carry it on, you can take it to the gate with you and ask them for a gate check tag , then they will put it in the plane last and when the plane lands they will bring it into the jetway and you can get it on your way out. This way it doesn’t go on all the conver belts and into the bagroom where people like me will kick it around.
