Have you had problems w/ American Airlines flights & refunds? How did you resolve it?What would you recommend?

We had a very bad travel experience recently w/ American Airlines. We traveled from SBA to BZE. Throughout our entire departing & returning flights, there were multiple problems. Every flight was late, causing a domino affect of missed flights – None caused by weather or mechanical problems. AA also lost our luggage on the way, this made the first few days of our trip difficult (in the tropics w/ no swim suits, shorts, etc – only the clothes on our backs which were jeans in the tropics, yuck).

We missed the last leg of our itinerary from LAX to SBA due to AA’s error. Problems appeared to be understaffing at some points, as well as incompetence and/or lack of knowledge w/in their corporation.

Estimated value of the part of our flights that they were not able to provide is $144/pp. We had to arrange land travel instead (at our expense). For a month now, we have patiently tried to resolve this w/ AA, but all they have done is credit us $18.93/pp – an insulting joke. What now?

    I had similar problems with American Airlines, and they didn’t even credit me. About the only thing you can do is never use their airline again.

    i have heard many passenger problems with american airlines. good thing i have never flown them.
