nicole asked:
The weight limit on check in luggage is 50 lbs. I am wondering about how many clothes you can fit in a suit case and have it weigh approximatly 50 lbs.
I know this question is rather odd…I don’t fly much and am packing for myself and two small kids.
Thanks, we don’t have a scale in our house. Maybe I’ll go buy one before the trip.

The best way to do this is to pack your suitcases with the minimum things you think you will use. After packing, use the bathroom weighing scale to check the weight of each then add them together.
If you go over 50 lbs, remove some of the things, replace heavy clothes with clothes made of lighter material, or look for a lighter luggage because the luggage itself may be heavy.
Just remember that in using the bathroom scale, stay BELOW 50 lbs. The springs in bathroom scales are less sensitive than those used in airports and your luggage may actually be heavier when you weigh in.
Here is a clue
Pack the suitcase – then go weigh yourself w/o the suitecase, then with the suitcase
Subtract the larger from the smaller to see how much the suitcase weighs. Adjust accordingly ……………………..
A normal carryon roller bag weights about 25-30 lbs. Larger ones will weigh more.
If you have a bathroom scale get on it and write down your weight. Then get on it carrying the suitcase. Subtract the total pounds with you and the suitcase; maybe you and the suitcase weigh 150 lbs and you alone weigh 100 lbs….so the suitcase is 50 lbs. Take only necessary clothes. Less is better. You can always do laundry. If you use the bathroom scale try not to go over 45 lbs to allow a cushion for error.
